This is a metallurgical production product belonging to the category of long rolled metal. It is characterized by a correct geometric cross-sectional shape - square - and is supplied in bars. Square bar is used both as a finished product - manufacturing of fences, railings, decorative elements, and in construction - and as a blank for the further production of axles, bushings, shafts, and other products.
By manufacturing method, square bar can be produced:
By hot rolling - on rolling mills. In terms of precision, square bar is divided into high-precision and standard. The greater the number of passes through the rolls, the higher the precision of the hot-rolled square bar.
Cold rolling - or the drawing method - the square billet is compressed by rolls and drawn through the required shape of the die, followed by high-precision finish grinding of the surface.
Forging - carried out under the influence of high temperatures and pressures. The products obtained have high strength, which is why they are used as blanks in the manufacture of elements and parts subjected to high temperatures, for example - steam turbine blades.

1. What is square bar most commonly used for?
Square bar is mainly used for decorative metalwork, including gates, grilles, fences, railings, furniture and decorative elements, as well as for metal structures such as frames, supports and machine bases. It is also used in mechanical engineering for shafts, keys and guide components.
2. What square bar sizes are available?
Common side dimensions range approximately from 8 to 100 mm. Smaller sections, from 8 to 16 mm, are most often used for forged elements and fencing, while larger sections, from 30 mm upwards, are used for structural applications and machine components.
3. Does square bar rust and require protective treatment?
Yes. It is uncoated carbon steel. For outdoor products such as gates and fences, it must be primed and painted; otherwise, corrosion will develop.
